At its March 2024 GTC Conference, NVIDIA revealed a lot of projects which will be coming soon and some are at the edge of being released and among those many projects, here is a project which is particularly related to the making of humanoid robots.
On 18 March 2024, NVIDIA unveiled Project GR00T, which is a general-purpose foundation model for humanoid robots intended to advance the company’s efforts to propel advances in embodied AI and robotics.
Along with major enhancements to the NVIDIA Isaac robotics platform, the company also unveiled “Jetson Thor”, a new computer designed for humanoid robots that are based on the NVIDIA Thor system-on-a-chip (SoC).
Robots that utilize Generalist Robot 00 Technology, or GR00T for short, will be able to mimic human movements and comprehend natural language.
A new computing platform called Jetson Thor was developed with the ability to carry out complicated tasks and engage in safe, natural interactions with both humans and other machines.
Among other top humanoid robot companies, NVIDIA is developing a comprehensive AI platform for Figure AI, Fourier Intelligence, Sanctuary AI, Unitree Robotics, XPENG Robotics, 1X Technologies and Apptronik.
Nvidia, the third-most valuable company in the world, unveiled its most potent Blackwell chip on Monday. It can process trillion-parameter AI models up to 30 times faster and with a quarter of the power consumption.
With 208 billion transistors, the Blackwell chip will process AI models and queries faster than its predecessors, according to Huang.
Global tech titans celebrated their collaborations with NVIDIA, including Sundar Pichai – CEO of Alphabet and Google, Satya Nadella – CEO of Microsoft and Ravi Kumar S – CEO of Cognizant.
Walt Disney Company’s most recent robotic marvels, the BDX robots, were also unveiled at the GTC conference. These robots, Orange and Green, are driven by Nvidia’s Jetson robotics computers and are the ultimate example of entertainment robotics.
Many well-known companies are already associated with Nvidia, this includes Franka Robotics, PickNik Robotics, READY Robotics, Solomon, Universal Robots and Yaskawa.
An important turning point in the development of AI and robotics was reached with the announcement of Nvidia’s Project GROOT and the introduction of Disney’s BDX robots at the GTC conference. And we will be able to know its capabilities once it comes into effect.
Even though GROOT is not any Marvel comic character if the project is successful, it will be a marvellous job done by NVIDIA in the field of AI and Robotics.
