Here’s a new partnership incidence between two famous tech giants – Google Cloud and NVIDIA.
Google Cloud offers its cloud services and allows users to use, create, develop, deploy, manage & maintain cloud-based applications and services.
NVIDIA is a large company making semiconductor chips for computers and machines. It designs and supplies GPUs, APIs and System on-chip units (SoCs). Nvidia’s GPUs are marketed under the GeForce brand and used for gaming and high-level editing processes.
Google Cloud and NVIDIA announced a deepened partnership to enable the machine learning (ML) community with technology that accelerates their efforts to easily build, scale and manage generative AI applications.
To continue bringing AI breakthroughs to its products and developers, Google announced its adoption of the new NVIDIA Grace Blackwell AI computing platform, as well as the NVIDIA DGX Cloud service on Google Cloud.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told thousands of Google partners and customers this week that the two tech titans will be forming a tighter co-innovation and go-to-market relationship to “reinvent cloud infrastructure” for the generative AI era.
“Generative AI is revolutionizing every layer of the computing stack, and our two companies—with two of the most talented, deepest computer science and computing teams in the world—are joining forces to reinvent cloud infrastructure for generative AI,” said Nvidia’s CEO this week on stage with Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian at Google Cloud Next 2023.
Thomas Kurian X-Post:
This includes the integration of Google’s serverless Spark offering with Nvidia GPUs, new Google A3 VM instances powered by Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPUs, and Google’s PaxML optimized for Nvidia accelerated computing.
PaxML is Google’s new framework for building massive large language models (LLMs), which the companies have been co-engineering for some time. It enables developers to use Nvidia H100 and A100 Tensor Core GPUs for advanced and fully configurable experimentation and scale.
The new integrations between NVIDIA and Google Cloud build on the companies’ longstanding commitment to providing the AI community with leading capabilities at every layer of the AI stack. Key components of the partnership expansion include:
- Adoption of NVIDIA Grace Blackwell
- Grace Blackwell-powered DGX Cloud coming to Google Cloud
- Support for JAX on GPUs
- NVIDIA NIM on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
- Vertex AI and Dataflow expand support for NVIDIA GPUs
NVIDIA GPUs are a core component of the Google Cloud AI Hypercomputer – a supercomputing architecture that unifies performance-optimized hardware, open software and flexible consumption models.
The holistic partnership enables AI researchers, scientists and developers to train, fine-tune and serve the largest and most sophisticated AI models – now with even more of their favourite tools and frameworks jointly optimized and available on Google Cloud.
Google Cloud and Nvidia have been partnering for years. For example, earlier in 2023, Google Cloud became the first cloud provider to offer Nvidia L4 Tensor Core GPUs with the launch of the G2 VM.
This partnership will surely benefit both tech companies and hoping to see some new and big technologies emerging out of this relationship.
